Matthew Saucedo

  • Director and Conductor of the Carthage Pep Band

Matthew Saucedo became the director of the Carthage Pep Band in 1997. From 1998 to 2004, he served the College full time as an academic advisor while directing Pep Band. In addition, he also held committee chairs working in the areas of student retention, advising and Hispanic recruitment. In 1999, he implemented Carthage's first Hispanic organization, Latinos Unidos, and served as its advisor for eight years.  In addition to directing the Carthage Pep Band, Mr. Saucedo is also a Spanish instructor at Carthage College.

Mr. Saucedo earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carthage College in 1996, where he majored in business administration, international business and Spanish. Just out of college, he worked at the Kenosha Spanish Center as the assistant director and gang prevention coordinator for at-risk inner-city youth.

In 2003, he earned a master's degree in education with a concentration in modern language from Carthage College. From 2004 to 2011, Mr. Saucedo taught high school Spanish in Westosha, Wis., and later taught middle school Spanish in Lake County, Ill.
