Eric Nelson

  • Adjunct Assistant Professor of Religion

Eric Nelson has taught religion courses since 2002 and is currently employed by Northwestern Mutual, where he specializes in leadership and corporate cultural development. He has been a member of the Carthage community since 1992, when he came to Carthage as a student.

As a student he majored in religion and upon graduation worked in a large congregation as their Director of Christian Education before heading off to seminary. Eric studied at Luther Seminary, during which time he served as vicar at a church in Oakland, Calif., and was trained as a marriage counselor and community organizer. He received his MDiv in 2002 and then returned to southeastern Wisconsin, where he began teaching at Carthage College and writing technical manuals for technology firms.

In 2007 he joined Northwestern Mutual’s Human Resources Department where he now specializes in applying theological principles to develop and implement learning and leadership strategies designed to create a better work environment for employees.

Since 2007, Eric has taught Carthage’s Faith, Love and Ethics class.

Their love of movies has led Eric and his wife, Ann, to be on four movie sets culminating in an appearance in The Dark Knight. Together, they homeschool their three boys: Ambrose, Viggo, and Keanu.
