Cynthia Allen

Cynthia Allen teaches in the Exercise and Sport Science Department at Carthage. She advises students who are studying to be physical education and health teachers.

While studying human nutrition at Kansas State University, Professor Allen was awarded a $25,000 grant from the American Egg Board to research the potential association between lutien intake and decreased incidence of age-related macular degeneration. Prior to completing her Ph.D., she spent four years working in the community as a health educator.

She earned her Ph.D. in human nutrition from Kansas State University, her M.S. in exercise and sport science from Colorado State University, and her B.S. in physical education from Utah State University. A native of Utah, she joined the Carthage faculty in 2004.
